| Assignment Description: | School Librarian Position:Librarian Reports to: Principal Classification: Volunteer Full-time/Part-time: PT Job Description The CISP librarian’s role is both in educational support as well as in organization and technical management. The Librarian provides assistance to teachers, students and other visitors in locating materials and information that best suits their needs. In addition, acquisitions and cataloging of items is a significant part of the job requirements. The Librarian reports to the School Director and supervises assistants/volunteers. Responsibilities: Maintain organization of the library; Check out, check-in, and re-shelving items; Train and monitor the work of assistants/volunteers; Order books and supplies; Maintain books, initiate repair of the damaged ones, replace books damaged beyond repair; Weed out unused or outdated items; Sort donations, accepting or rejecting according to Library Guidelines; Process donated and purchased items and import into the system; Distribute “late notices” to patrons (at least once every three months); Perform inventory check (at least once a year); Maintain and update the patrons’ list; Oversee the use of the library by homeschooling families; Prepare budget and suggest purchases for the following school year; Train students on the organization of the library and how to locate resources; and Organize “library time” for elementary classes. |
