Some Things Are Worth Investing In!

For Christians, the decision to give is not primarily financial in nature. It is rooted first in the nature of God, and secondly, in our relationship with Him.

If we want to make sure that our giving is thoroughly biblical in nature, there is one last observation we need to add to the two mentioned above. Although the generosity with which we express our response to God’s grace entails everything we are and everything we have – our mental, emotional, and spiritual assets as well as the physical – we dare not miss the point that the Lord is especially concerned about the way we use our material wealth.

But the joy of giving cannot begin to flow in our lives until we make a commitment to put these scriptural principles into practice.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” –  2 Corinthians 9:11

“A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.” –  Proverbs 18:16

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Luke 6:38
