The Librarian provides assistance to teachers, students and other visitors in locating materials and information that best suits their needs. In addition, acquisitions and cataloging of items is a significant part of the job requirements. The Librarian reports to the School Director and supervises assistants/volunteers. Responsibilities: Maintain organization of the library; Check out, check-in, and re-shelving items; Train and monitor the work of assistants/volunteers; Order books and supplies; Maintain books, initiate repair of the damaged ones, replace books damaged beyond repair; Weed out unused or outdated items; Sort donations, accepting or rejecting according to Library Guidelines; Process donated and purchased items and import into the system; Distribute “late notices” to patrons (at least once every three months); Perform inventory check (at least once a year); Maintain and update the patrons’ list; Oversee the use of the library by homeschooling families; Prepare budget and suggest purchases for the following school year; Train students on the organization of the library and how to locate resources; and Organize “library time” for elementary classes. |
