Our Hope is in Him

Share!

From Lamentations 3 we learn the Lord is steadfast in his unwavering resolve to love us. He keeps going and going. His love is enduring, undeterred. His compassion and mercy are limitless and stretch infinitely, never failing. The disciples were thinking small when they asked how many times they should forgive. Seven times? The Lord’s answer was “Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ”LORD, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, ”I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:21-22″ Seven times Seventy. The Lord’s love is beyond measure toward us, and we are called to have that same love toward others.

His mercies are new every morning. It is reminiscent of the manna in the desert. It was new and fresh every day. Each day is not monotonous; it brings its own surprises from the Lord. We are to go outside the camp each day to see what the Lord has in store for us to make a difference for others and for His Kingdom. “Therefore let us go to him outside the camp … For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.” Hebrews 13:13

The Lord is my portion. “Whom have I in heaven but you, Lord, and earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26 The more we long for Jesus, the more we long to know him intimately and love him fully, the more deeply satisfied we are. And the more we want others to find that same joy to save them from themselves and from a life or an eternity separated from all hope. You can make a difference. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24
