Assignment Description: | There is a music curriculum K-12 that can be followed easily by an established music teacher. General Music K-6: Instruct students in the areas of music styles and forms, as well as teaching them how to read music and interpret music vocabulary. Grade four students are taught recorders. There is the possibility of a 5th and 6th grade choir. Beginning Band starts in 5th grade. The Standard of Excellence Books I and II are used to establish a solid foundation for the future. Students learn good tone quality, basics of intonation, how to read rhythms, use clean tonguing, dynamics, and scales, as well as many other music terms that are used at this level. http://www.ukarumpainternationalschool.org |

Job Comment: | There is a music curriculum K-12 that can be followed easily by an established music teacher. Vocal Music 6-12 : Students are taught to sight-read, sing solfeg and learn different styles of music. They continue to build upon the musical foundation laid in Primary School in the area of reading music/learning new music vocabulary. Instrumental Music 6-12: Middle School Band – grades 6-8 - More scales are taught, and the level of difficulty of music is increased, as well as teaching more musical vocabulary/additional styles of music. Make sure the musical foundation laid in beginning band is secure and solid - challenging middle school band members to greater and higher levels of music. High School Band -grades 9-12 - The students should perform at a medium advanced high school level and are challenged to be at the advanced level. Teacher continues to build upon the solid foundation and challenge students to an even higher level of learning. This would include more rhythms, styles, vocabulary, etc. |

Housing: | New teachers rent a house on the Ukarumpa centre. This might be a house that belongs to a family who are out of the country at that time, or a house owned by the centre. The school, the store, the clinic and other departments are within walking distance of the houses. |

The Primary Campus serves approximately 150 children from preschool to grade 5. The Secondary Campus serves approximately 120 students in grades 6-12.
