Jesus said to the woman with the issue of blood who touched His garment, “Your faith has make you whole.” (Matthew 9:22) He used the same phrase with the blind beggar and the ten lepers. His healing was more than physical; it was a spiritual healing as well, as she is told to “go in peace” (Mark 5:34). “Go in peace” was the assignment Jesus gave to the woman.
In the story of the woman caught in the act of adultery, only those who were without sin were given permission to condemn her. None did. She was given an assignment to lose harmful habits and be productive.
To the woman at the well, the discussion centered around her life-style. She encountered the Source—Living Water—and apparently believed at the compelling evidence that Jesus was the Messiah. Without further prompting she took on the assignment to tell others about Jesus. (John 4:29)
As the crowd was coming Jesus stopped to give an assignment to the His disciples, to the audience, and to us “But I tell you, look around you, and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting.” (John 4:35)
