Mary is a key person in the movement to tell the whole world that God is anxious to redeem. He loves us and wants to spend eternity with us beginning now; ending never.
While still a teenager, Mary exhibited a humble spirit and a compliance toward the will of God. Both are important attributes that factored into the Lord’s choice of Mary to bring the Christ-child into the world. The angel’s announcement to her, as recorded in Luke 1, was that she would conceive and bear a son and call his name Jesus. … and He would reign over the house of Jacob forever. Mary wondered how this could be, but she was assured the Holy Spirit would come upon her and work out the details because “nothing will be impossible with God.” [Luke 1:37]
Her reply was, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; Let it be to me according to your word.” [Luke 1:38] This response by Mary is instructive for us. When the Lord calls us to serve in His global enterprise, are we willing to say, “Let it be to me according to your word?”
