Job Comment: | Works with students from a remote location to study-approved subjects such as Social Studies, Math, Science, Language Arts, etc. Is familiar with and understands different learning styles and seeks to adapt methods of instruction to maximize individual student’s potential for learning. Develops and maintains student records of grades and attendance as required by the school. Seeks to maintain appropriate student behavior in relating to the teacher and other students. Understands the developmental uniqueness of primary school and high school-age youth and empathizes with the adjustment of cross-cultural situations. Encourages understanding of and acceptance of cultural differences among students. Communicates effectively to a multi-national and seeks to make allowance for home-country specific academic needs whenever possible. Keeps parents informed of their child’s achievements and communicates academic or other concerns with them for the purpose of working together to find an appropriate solution. Housing: | New teachers rent a house on the Ukarumpa centre. This might be a house that belongs to a family who are out of the country at that time, or a house owned by the centre. The school, the store, the clinic and other departments are within walking distance of the houses. |
Job Advertisement: | Come and teach at the WASC accredited Ukarumpa International School – Our school is divided into two campuses located on the Ukarumpa Centre in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. The Primary Campus serves approximately 150 children from preschool to grade 5. The Secondary Campus serves approximately 120 students in grades 6-12. We have good resources, supportive parents and a committed and professional teaching staff. Face the challenge of teaching children from as many as 14 different counties in English whilst at the same time integrating a Christian world-view into your lessons. And, in all of this, you are supporting the eternal work of Bible Translation! |
