December: The Month of Mobilization

In December, we don’t simply remember a story. We recommit to a calling. Jesus came to us— and now we go to others.

December reminds us of the Incarnation—God on mission.
At the center of this season stands the miracle of the Incarnation. Jesus demonstrated the ultimate act of obedience to the Father’s will. He left heaven—His glory, His rights, His nearness to the Father—to enter our world as a vulnerable child. His birth was not just a moment in history; it was the greatest missionary act, the first step in the Father’s salvation plan for the nations.

When we celebrate Christmas, we are celebrating the God who comes to us, the God who goes to the nations, the God who crosses every barrier for love.

December shapes our worship—and our obedience.

The nativity is not merely a birth story; it is a calling story. The obedience of Jesus—taking on flesh, humbling Himself, dwelling among us—reveals that mission is worship. Mission is surrender. Mission is the natural overflow of a heart aligned with the Father.

When we sing carols, light candles, and retell the Christmas story, we are proclaiming again that God sends—and God invites us to join Him.

December awakens generosity for the sake of the nations.

This season stirs something in us: a desire to give, to bless, and to participate in something bigger than ourselves. Historically, December has been one of the most strategic months for missionary sending, funding, and prayer. People are more open, more reflective, and more aware of eternal realities. Churches take special offerings. Believers pay closer attention to stories of global need. Hearts soften. Hands open.

Mobilization flourishes in December because worship naturally leads to mission.

December invites us to realign our hearts with God’s heart for the world.

Amid the noise of the season, December gives us space to remember:

  • Over 3 billion people still lack access to the gospel.
  • Entire ethnic groups celebrate Christmas without knowing Christ.
  • The world Jesus entered is still in desperate need of the message of hope.

In December, we remember why He came: “to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).
His Incarnation becomes our invitation—to pray, to send, to give, to go, and to champion those on the frontlines.

December is a mobilizing month because Christmas is a missionary story.

The manger was a launching point. Bethlehem was the beginning of a global movement.
The child wrapped in cloths became the Savior wrapped in our humanity, the Lamb wrapped in sacrifice, and the King wrapped in resurrection glory. We celebrate not only His coming but also the mission His coming initiated—a mission we are now called to carry.

In December, we don’t simply remember a story.
We recommit to a calling.
Jesus came to us—
and now we go to others.

That is why December is one of the most important months for mobilization:
it is the month where worship becomes witness, celebration becomes commissioning,
and the cradle reminds us of the call.
