In a passage familiar to many, David, the Psalmist, reflects on how the Lord knits us together in our mother’s womb… intricately woven. (Psalm 139:13,15).
Have you ever watched an expert knitter? The work starts with a single thread; then one-at-a-time, and with amazing skill, the threads are transformed into a complex garment—a masterpiece of color and shape. There are no two alike. There was not another David. There will not be another you.
When a skilled potter shapes the clay into a vessel, it is designed to be useful. It is adorned with design and a “cloak” of glaze for beauty, so the vessel becomes a wonder to behold. In fact, “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Eph 2:10)
Why? “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
You are royalty! Not forgotten. You are valuable to God. It is intended that you live to proclaim Him. His last instruction was to come alongside the nations to disciple them using the skills the Lord has graciously given you, which are one off…unique. Wonderful thoughts on being intricately knit together. And unless our lives are grounded in Him and in His purposes, we can unravel very quickly in these trying days. It only takes a small tug on the yarn from the enemy to start the process of pulling us away from Him. Consistent prayer and Bible study keeps our yarn tight, our masterpieces intact and our focus on where we can serve Him best.
