The End of the Earth Has An Address

Missions is not about "What can I spare?" The question must be "What is it going to take?"

Somehow, we have the sense that the fact there are unreached peoples is acceptable in our personal world. But it is true that Jesus died for everyone – even those at the ends of the earth. And everyone that Jesus died for is known by God. And, just like each of us, everyone has a real address in the eyes of God, even if we consider them to be at the ends of the earth or the uttermost. It must be disappointing to God that there are still unreached people groups (UPG) 2000 years after Jesus gave the commission to go and make disciples of all nations.

Missions is not about, “What can I spare?” The question must be, “What is it going to take?” For each of us it is a risk of stepping out in faith; abandon our agenda for His, and sacrifice—a living sacrifice. It is radical dependence on Christ. Be troubled that the knowledge of the glory of the Lord does not fill the earth. Be troubled in your soul that there are addresses that have yet to be visited by a witness for Christ. Be passionately committed to expanding the reach of the gospel whether it is going, mobilizing or sending; whether you are working on the front lines or in the infrastructure to make disciples of the nations.

Gathering at a missions event for the purpose of promoting the missionary task brings great delight to the heart of God. May the Lord take great delight in you and in your commitment as you spend the next season of your life considering your role in the missionary task while, at the same time, delighting in God. A great next step is to take the college-level Perspectives course tracing the advance if missions from the time if Christ ’til now.
