Want an Ordinary Life? Pay No Attention to Jesus

Faith matures when we are walking and working with the Lord.

Peter had seen miracles of increasing surprise as he lived and walked with Jesus. There were countless healings from all sorts of illnesses and conditions. There was the feeding of five thousand, the raising of Lazarus from the dead, walking on water, the transfiguration, the resurrection, and walking through walls, to name a few.

When we investigate something surprising like the green flash or a black hole or an unusual weather event, we immediately reach for an explanation. But the miracles Peter and the disciples saw were beyond explanation, and even today they are beyond explanation. They were faith building. Faith that must be supported by evidence of the senses is not real faith. Jesus spoke to doubting Thomas and said, “… Blessed are they that have not seen, yet believed.”

James declares, “I will show you my faith by my deeds.” James is asking us to trust the Lord beyond what we can do in the flesh for surprising outcomes. (James 2)

Our faith matures when we are walking and working with the Lord. We can boldy ask for help with life’s circumstances and ministry. We have a big God. Often the Lord will deliver when we say “yes” and yield to Him.

As you press into faith, seeing the Lord use you in extraordinary ways will become more and more ordinary. Accelerate your faith journey by registering and completing a profile, by faith, at missionnext.org Then, be surprised at the ways the Lord will use you to make a difference in this life and the next.
