Magnificence Awaits

Share!

If you take someone to the Grand Canyon, you do not have to explain how magnificent it is. If you have a scientific interest, you marvel at the intricate and diverse designs in nature—astronomy, biology, chemistry and more. The Bible says, “For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.” Romans 1:20

As Christ-followers, we have glimpses in the Bible of a magnificence that is yet to come. Years ago, in the last years of my Mom’s life, she lost visual acuity. Dad would read the Bible to her. At one point, reading through Revelation, her comment was, “Heaven sounds so good.” When getting ready for a journey, we pay particular attention to the travel brochure. Words fail John as he tries to describe the magnificent scenes in Heaven throughout Revelation.

Isaiah also had a glimpse of glory reported in “And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” Isaiah 6 where he reported, “The earth is full of His glory.”

Stephen the martyr was distracted at his stoning as he saw the wonder of Heaven and its hosts standing on tiptoe to receive him. “But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” Acts 7

The Apostle Paul was transported to heaven and reported, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Cor 2:9

The splendor of His glory awaits all who receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. The alternative is devastating; separation from God. As Jesus urged, let us be proactive in spreading the word as His witnesses to share His magnificence. One way to learn how you can make a difference is to take the Journey at missionnext.org.

  1. Thanks Nelson – this is great.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18

  2. Thanks Nelson, a great reminder that even though we see wonderful things in creation all around us it cannot compare to what will someday be revealed. Praying that eyes may be opened and hearts softened to see God’s gifts all around us.
