Turn the Page

After the darkness, despair is turned to delight after we turn the page to the resurrection of Matthew 28. There is a dazzling display of power ending never.

The narrative at the end of the gospel of Matthew gets darker and darker. Jesus is reviled, falsely accused, brutally abused, then dies on the cross. The light of the world is extinguished.

But despair is turned to delight after we turn the page to Chapter 28. There is a dazzling display of power. An earthquake comes to roll away the stone. In a large quake, the ground becomes like liquid as a creation power by the Creator bursts forth in the moment.

Light penetrates the darkness as the angels come to declare the light has returned.

The guards prepare to lie but fall as dead against the power of the truth. The tomb is empty.

The passage ends with the Great Commission. The angels declared then and declare to us today, “… go quickly and tell [others] He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you, [and] you will see Him.” “And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” Matthew 28:7

We will see Him in action as we go. See what that might look like for you, by registering at missionnext.org. There are a myriad of opportunities in any field, short-term, long term, at home and abroad.
