You may also train local language speakers to adjust a grammatical analysis of a related language for use within the software. Location: remote Commitment: minimum 20 hours/week for three years This job might be for you if… *You are skilled at computer coding. *You enjoy grammar and have earned an M.A. in linguistics or the equivalent of training and experience. *You are excited to work on a remote, international, collaborative team. *You are comfortable using MS Office, attending online meetings and navigating a digital project management system. As a supported* grammar developer, you would use your coding and linguistic skills to enable minority languages to use a translation software that speeds up Bible translation by nearly 40%! Today over 1,800 people groups, 170 million people, still don’t have the Bible translated into their languages! Wycliffe USA believes the Word of God can transform lives when people hear it in their own language or form, and we urgently need you to join the team! The Bible Translator’s Assistant (TBTA) is innovative translation software that combines a grammar analysis of a language with templates of books of the Bible to create the initial translated draft. So far it has reduced the overall time and cost of translating a Bible by 40% while improving the quality of translation! TBTA is a collaborative project under the direction of Wycliffe Canada with partners including Wycliffe USA, Wycliffe UK, The Seed Company, All the Word Bible Translators, Pioneer Bible Translators, ETEN, illumiNations, SIL-Philippines, BTL Kenya, Wycliffe India and OneBook. *ABOUT SUPPORTED POSITIONS Supported staff (missionaries) with Wycliffe Bible Translators USA are members of a faith-based organization.
