The Journey Deepens Online
If you sense God is calling you but would like help in discerning your direction, The Journey Deepens Online is a great next step for you! It is a time when you can explore the next step in your life of service before the Lord.
The primary objective of The Journey Deepens Online is to serve the Body of Christ by helping individuals understand their role in fulfilling the Great Commission and coaching them to take their next steps of obedience toward that role. During the program individuals are introduced to six different possible roles for their involvement.
The best words to describe The Journey Deepens experience are powerful and effective. Prayer is the covering. The focus is Jesus Christ and His Word. The Holy Spirit is the guide. The online weekend will consist of large-group teaching sessions, small-group sessions, one-on-one appointments, and quiet time breakouts. Attendance is intentionally limited to create personal interaction between individuals, coaches, and fellow sojourners with the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
The Journey Deepens Online events use Zoom. Everyone will be together for the four main teaching sessions, and the Zoom Breakout feature will host the small group sessions. The program will run Friday evening, Saturday morning and early afternoon, and Sunday afternoon.
Some of the subjects that will be covered in the general sessions, small groups and one-on-one time with the coaches are:
- I feel God calling me. What should I do next?
- Which of my gifts and interests could I use in another culture?
- How can I deal with school loans?
- What’s involved in raising prayer and financial support?
- How do I discuss missions with my family and my church?
- If God leads me to stay and send others, what would that involve?
“I believe this website and retreat are an important part of what God is doing that we might become more obedient to the challenge of reaching unreached peoples. It is especially encouraging to see a number of churches and organizations relate and work together with other members of the Body of Christ.”
—George Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization
“I am delighted to hear of this initiative to give prospective missionary candidates such an intense weekend. This will be a special time of exposure to mature missionaries and some of the realities of working cross-culturally and help many to have their future role in missions clarified. May God use this vision to impart vision!”
—Patrick Johnstone, author of Operation World.
