 Grace of Calvary Ministries is a 501c3 non-profit in the United States. All of our operations are in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. We have a Calvary Chapel church with about 40 families, a lunch program for underprivileged kids and a school program. The congregation is only Spanish speaking. The school program provides backpacks, school supplies, uniforms, shoes, tutoring and some high school and university fees for students that we know personally and have a financial need. We primarily exist to REACH, EQUIP and SEND people for Jesus Christ. The food and education ministries are secondary but necessary because of the poverty level that people we serve live in. We also host short-term teams from the United States that want to do ministry in Mexico. The ministry was founded in 2006 and the church was started in 2011. Spanish is required.  The Mission was established in 1952 by young African American female Baptist missionaries who had the courage and boldness to answer the call to go to Africa and educate the children in the villages. They traveled from Brooklyn, New York to a place that would become their home until 1984 when the civil war forced them to leave the country. The impact they made is still evident in the boys and girls they taught over the years. Many of these students are living in various countries around the globe. Some of them remain in Liberia and are working within the government sector. Others are living in the USA, Ghana, Guinea, Canada, to name just a few. Their legacy continues as God has sent back one of the boys who grew up on the mission, Eddie “Uncle Sam” Gibson. He serves as the overseer and his wife serves as a meal program supervisor. They both were educated on the mission. Mission of Hope is located 3 hours outside the capital of Monrovia, Liberia. The roads have been significantly improved, and what a blessing; because it once took 9 hours to get to the mission school. The classrooms are several buildings that are in need of extensive repair. The only current school building is THE kindergarten class which was built by SAVE THE CHILDREN 5 years ago. It houses 60 to 75 children ages ranging from 5 – 8 years old. We also have a screened in annex building that houses the 3 to 6 year olds. The 1st graders to 9th graders are in small, crammed rooms scattered around the central front part of campus. School population is 200 students (Age 3 & 4 year old; 1st to 9th grade) . Staff: 16 ~Mission of Hope also offers Residential (Dorm for Girls); Day School for local rural Students; Offers 2 healthy meals 5 days a week (breakfast and lunch) ~Mission of Hope school offers the following: Agriculture - student farms Training in fish and pig farming Skill development in leadership, civic, moral responsibilities and most of all discipleship training for spiritual development. | ||
